Diaspora Youth

FDC’s Youth in the Diaspora project brings together young members of the Indian American diaspora to reflect on questions of identity, belonging, and justice in a time of deepening social and political polarization. Through workshops, dialogues, and creative collaborations, it provides a space for youth to critically engage with inherited histories of caste, faith, and migration, and to explore how these shape their sense of self and community in the diaspora. Participants are encouraged to interrogate stereotypes, unpack sources of misunderstanding and division, and share personal narratives that connect their experiences to broader struggles for justice.

Grounded in the values of pluralism, empathy, and social responsibility, the initiative seeks to build bridges across caste and religious lines that have often divided South Asian communities. By fostering interfaith and cross-caste conversations, the project nurtures a new generation of Indian Americans committed to solidarity and justice—one that envisions identity not as exclusionary or hierarchical, but as relational, ethical, and rooted in shared humanity.
